When you change to an outside-in, customer, and system perspective, it is highly likely that you will need to build better measures; particularly leading measures that show the capability of the system to meet purpose (derived from demand or need) in a way that matters to customers.

How these new measures are constructed is also important; successful measures should  help to inform and guide decision making around improvement. Displaying data in a way that helps understand variation is therefore extremely useful.
