Managers seem to have the greatest fear of ‘people problems’. When faced with these they often avoid dealing with them, become paralysed or resort to ‘home-spun psychology’. Managers are susceptible to any offering that promises to solve their people problem.

Hence we all get ‘wet and dirty’, we learn to talk to each other differently and with strange language, we are encouraged to believe that ‘deeper’ is better, and so poor souls’ lives are damaged by the therapy brigade.

Problems are very rarely ‘people’ problems – they are, most often, system problems.
